Framed and Ready for Home or Office

In the days before Washington became a state and Spokane was still called “Spokane Falls”, local merchants promoted their goods and services with graphic materials that showcased the growth and promise of the community. The Spokane Falls community was particularly noted for its “brag and swagger.” Certainly, it had a lot to be proud of—a Northern Pacific freight and passenger depots, fine churches, busy mills, well-placed bridges, a fledgling hospital, a new fairgrounds at Corbin Park, and a host of fine homes, banks, business blocks, schools and two colleges. Taylor & Jefferson, local real estate and Investors’ Agents, captured it all with a lithograph of the city, overprinted with numbers and accompanied by an index that identified 52 key locations. Now this historic picture-map is available to the public in a strictly limited edition, reproduced to exacting standards.

The original lithograph from which the picture-map was derived was engraved and printed by one of the nation’s leading engravers, H. S. Crocker of San Francisco. Copies of the original maps are rare, and even when found, are often in advance stages of deterioration. We reproduced our offering from a fine copy of a prized original found in a local corporate collection. Thanks to state-of-the-art printing technology, “Spokane Falls, Wash. Ter.”—is available as a limited edition fine print, matted and framed to museum standards by Spokane artisans.

Reproduced on paper that will last without fading for at least 100 years,* these high quality, collectible picture maps measure 30 7/8 inches wide by 21 1/4 inches high, with an image size of 21 1/4 inches wide by 13 7/8 inches high.

Each framed print comes with a Certificate of Authentication and Limitation signed by a representative of The Spokesman-Review.  In addition to the framed print, you will receive a separate facsimile of the 1887 picture map. The separate facsimile comes in a separate protective plastic sleeve so it can be attached to the back of the frame or stored, for easy reference and up-close examination, on a library shelf or in a map case or desk drawer.  The framed print and accompanying facsimile are not only attractive, but also educational. They make a great addition to home or office—magnificent conversation pieces you will be proud to own and display.
